Nice small tank
This is a very nice set up. It comes with almost everything you need. Plants light filter aeration and sample water treatment and fish food.
The plants are nice. Good color good quality. The Light are LEDs so they won't burn out. The filter is ok. It works for this small of a tank but the tank still needs to be cleaned often. (get one of those small siphons and clean out the gravel). And the air pump is quiet as long as it's on a flat surface and not touching anything. (although mine died after about two years but the pumps are easy to find and replace)
This tank is good for a single beta or three Neon Tetras or Danios (leopard or zebra) the Beta and Danios are all very hearty fish and are easy to take care of. The Neon Tetras are a bit more picky and are more sensitive to their environment. Keep in mind the Neons and Danios are schooling fish and best kept in groups of three or more (usually in odd numbers) but I wouldn't put more than three in this tank. Also you can usually find "ghost shrimp" in pet stores that are fun to watch and help keep the tank clean (but you need to watch out for the little buggers when you siphon the tank) I wouldn't put more than one in the tank.
If you are a first-time fish owner here's a list of additional things to buy for this tank.
Gravel-just a small bag you can find at Walmart or any pet store any color you wish.
Fish food-this comes with a small sample of fish food but it won't last you too long.
Small siphon- makes it much much easier to clean your tank with less stress for your fish.
Stress coat-helps protect the fish's natural coat and keep them safe after water changes or introduction to a new environment. Also removes chlorine from the water.
Small cave or other hide hole- gives the fish a place to hide to reduce stress. (highly suggested but not necessary)
If your beta goes `missing' don't panic he's probably in hiding in the filter. Mine didn't do that until later in his life. He was just getting old I think. But it scared me when I couldn't find him.
This is also nice as a quarantine tank for sick fish. The tank won't discolor with the treatments but the airline tubing will (as any soft airline tubing would. They are easy to find and replace if you are picky about it)
Over all this is a nice tank. I like the simple look and the small compartment is nice to put the extra filters into. You only need a few things to get this up and running and it displays your fish well.

So far so good
I purchased this product the day before going on vacation so i didn't have much time to research. I've owned it for 28 days and it's been working fine so far. I use small pellets not flakes- so that's all i can rate it for. It seems to work at the same times every day and a uniform amount of food appears to drop. It is not quiet so if it is used in a bedroom make sure you adjust your feeding times as not to be disturbed while sleeping. I acually don't mind knowing when it's running so if i'm around I can check on it's function. Time will tell if it's a great product- but so far so good.
I must change my review- I too had one of the battery contacts break off and the unit became unreliable. I'd often have to remove and replace the batteries to get it to work again. I'd look elsewhere before buying another.

Best Betta Tank Ever
Despite other reviews I think this bowl is absolutely perfect. I had a betta live 4 years in this bowl which is remarkably long for a Betta. Easy to do weekly water changes. A heater can be put in this bowl if you desire. They make mini heaters for 2-5 gallon tanks. I don't have a heater and with my thermostat set at 71 degrees in the house the tank stays warm enough and my Betta is happy. I like the fact that it is glass I hate acrylic tanks. Be sure you construct some type of cover for the top as Bettas will jump out of a tank.

Not for permanent housing...
From personal experience as well as from research I would not keep a Betta in a tank smaller than 3 gallons. Bettas actually don't live their whole lives in small puddles; they live most of their lives in vast rice paddies thousands of gallons of naturally filtrated and aerated water and only live in small puddles of water for 2 to 3 months a year during the dry season.
What's more fancy bettas aren't as hardy as their wild buddies and need more space and stimulation. This 3 liters (I think that was the measurement but either way I've seen these sold at stores and they're far too small) is not what I would keep a Betta in forever; maybe a temporary home as I cleaned his tank or maybe while setting up the real one but that's it.
However this would look awesome with some plants in it! :-D
